Beyond Soho, London - Area Guide

Bubala

BUBALA

The Middle-Eastern influence is strong in London’s food scene at the moment and the Bubala mini-group are clearly onto a good thing with their vegetarian menu and plant-filled interiors. Their Soho outpost is ideal for flavor-packed meals that go well beyond the established cannon of Israeli and Lebanese dishes dominating more mainstream menus. This place, however, is officially the real deal.

Chinatown

CHINATOWN

Packed with over 150 East and South-East Asian restaurants, Chinatown is primarily a hospitality destination, peppered with a few other shops, grocers and bars. So whether you’re looking to pick up ingredients and try something at home, or let the food come to you, the options here are practically limitless. Ask any local and they’ll tell you the same thing - go with a recommendation, rather than wandering the streets in search of divine inspiration. So here’s ours: Noodle & Beer, literally below our Soho apartments. Trust us on this one.

GROWN ALCHEMIST

The London flagship of this Australian beauty brand aiming at ‘total skin health’ has a menu of facial treatments as well as IV drips, relaxation bed multi-sensory experiences and men's shaves. The branding is on point, packaging is minimalist and the business is sufficiently planet conscious i their recycling policy to win our vote.

NOBODY’S CHILD

Fast fashion really isn’t helping the planet, so we’re happy to support challenger brands like this one. Nobody’s Child independently audit their suppliers, prioritise ethically made materials and are on the path to B Corp status. And when you’re done with your clothes, they also have a take-back program in collaboration with Reskinned who facilitate recycling.

OLD SPIKE COFFEE

A social impact coffee brand on a mission to combine ethically sourced beans with support for London’s homeless community through training and employment. It’s a clear, cohesive mission supported by their donation of 65% of profits to support the cause. Their cafe location on Sherwood Street in Soho is a low-key, almost inconspicuous space that still manages to deliver on so many levels.

SKINWORK

As the name suggests, Skinworks are specialists in facials and skin treatments. The bright, peppermint green interiors of their salon on Peter Street house a menu of treatments specifically targeting dull, tired skin; signs of aging and acne.

SWINGERS GOLF

After Washington, New York and Las Vegas, American crazy golf franchise Swingers is now making a play for a slice of London’s ‘social entertainment’ scene. Under the same roof you’ll find a visually impressive crazy golf course alongside a bevvy of carnival games, and a trio of the city’s top fast food providers: Pizza Pilgrims, Breddos tacos and Patty & Bun burgers.

SACRED GROUNDS

Proudly the 'only coffee shop in Soho with its own garden', Sacred Grounds on Dean Street is run by St. Ann's Church next door with a commitment to sustainability and accessibility to all. Also check out Storm Flowers Garden shop on the same site for sustainably made gardening equipment, natural soaps and more.

THIRD SPACE SOHO

Arguably the city’s leading luxury health club chain now, Third Space changed the rules of the game with their Soho site when it first opened. Still looking good after all these years, the concept has adapted to changing tastes by integrating sports medicine, recovery concepts, nutrition and Hyrox functional fitness classes.
